Spring 2019 Press release Be The Wolf/ Brady Theater/Robin Trower/KTUL CH 8

The release “Be The Wolf/LIVE at Cain’s Ballroom” by Hurricane Mason is a collection of songs that is the culmination of a long string of performing, recording and refining. One part studio, one part live album, it’s great book of snapshots of the band that Oklahoma based guitarist and singer songwriter Matt Mason had a dream to pursue. During the time that these tracks were written and recorded, the seasoned pro bass player and producer Ace Eversole greatly helped guide this lineup of the band to a more refined musical path and these songs were some of the best. It was during these years the band found lots of work in their home base of Oklahoma and a 5 state region, performing fairs, festivals, clubs both as a headliner and support for national touring acts. The band Mason had assembled for this lineup still included longtime drummer Shawn Montgomery and together with Eversole’s guidance they continued to help hone and shape the sound of the guitarist’s and songwriter original compositions and creative approaches to familiar songs.
Mason went out on his own for a few years of solo touring and lived thru a disasterous NYE 2014 car accident and recovery . By June 2015 the band had been asked to warm up for British guitar legend Robin Trower at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa for a second time. “Be The Wolf” sessions reconvened at Eversole’s Hideaway Digital studio and the intent was to release the album on the full moon of Fri the 13th of Jan 2017. But it was not to be…Just as the band was firing up the engines in mid 2016 to complete “Be The Wolf” and make it a reality, longtime music writer John Wooley interviewed Matt and Ace for a feature in OKLAHOMA Magazine. By the time the article came out at the end of the summer, Eversole had suddenly passed away after an extended hospital stay. Montgomery and Mason finished out the year very heavy heartedly playing with a variety of bass players covering the low end. A few more frustrations later…here stands Matt Mason poised to rise from the ashes and rock once again with Robin Trower for the 3rd time… this time it’s at Tulsa’s Historic Brady Theater on Sat 4/20. He’s got a great new band backing him that you will be introduced to when they play live on ABC KTUL Ch 8 “Good Day Tulsa” the morning of 4/18/2019 . A limited number of physical copies of “Be The Wolf/Live At Cain’s Ballroom” will be available at the 4/20 show as well as digital..first online at www.hurricanemason.rocks then onto 60+ digital outlets worldwide
